Sandhill Organics will be seeking six production team members for the 2010 growing season. Our family-run farm is located within Prairie Crossing, a nationally recognized conservation community on the outskirts of Chicago. We market our vegetables through our CSA program, one farmers’ market and a handful of wholesale accounts.

As we move through the season everyone will be called upon to help in all areas of specialization. Thus employees will be exposed to most areas of production. All employees will be given the opportunity to participate in a Fall round table discussion in which we will focus on one or two topics chosen by employees. Previous discussions have focused on organic certification, budgeting, business set-up and equipment. Sandhill Organics is a member of the Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (CRAFT) and encourages all employees to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Two positions will start the first week of April, and the remaining will start the first week of May. At a minimum, all employees will stay through the end of September. Exact ending dates are negotiable, with the possibility of work through the winter. Preference will be given to those with farm experience and individuals seeking a multiple year commitment. There will be no tractor work for first-year employees. Salary is $1,350/month for 40-50 hours/week for vegetable and post harvest employees. Compensation for production assistant depends on experience. Please send resume and letter of intent to Matt Sheaffer at sandhillorganics@prairiecrossing.com or call with any questions (847) 548-4030.

We invite you to become part of our vibrant farming community! Please visit the website of the Prairie Crossing community (www.prairiecrossing.com) for more information on our neighborhood.
